I am born of God and the evil one does not touch me - 1 John 5:18
This is Day 5 of 48 of the #TruthAboutWhoYouAre series. In case we have never met, I am Kristen Stansell and I will be sharing today's devotional. I am a believer, a wife, a creative in Orange County, serve at The OC Movement church, and run Crafted By. Thank you so much for joining in on this journey with me. I hope you are inspired over this 7 week series.
Just a few minutes ago, I watched as the Women's USA soccer team took the victory and became world champions. After watching the pre-game interviews and watching USA win this game, I've got to say soccer is growing on me. Halfway through the game Team USA had already taken the lead by quite a bit and it was pretty evident that they would take home the World Cup. Regardless of them being ahead, they continued to fight for their victory.
As believers, it is important to know that whatever fight you are currently up against you have already been deemed victorious. There was a season of my life after I had surrendered my life to Christ that I had "fallen" into sin. And by "fallen" I mean I put myself in a situation that lead to nowhere good. It didn't just happen once but over and over again. I felt like I was completely trapped and unable to get freed from this bondage of sin.
The truth is that when we are temped to do something that we know is not right God always gives us an escape route. (1 Corinthians 10:13) For me, it began with me just saying, "Jesus help me." There is power in the name of Jesus and He is just ready and waiting for you to call on Him. Secondly, we have to know that we are victorious. Yes, we might be in the middle of a fight getting knocked off our feet, bruised and bloody but regardless we are victorious. Jesus paid the price to give us freedom. Know you are victorious, you are free, and you are protected by God. If you are struggling, begin speaking the truth and knowing that Christ strength lives in you. You've got this. Just keep fighting forward.
We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. 1 John 5:18
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4
