I have the Shield of Faith | Day 16

In case you missed the announcement about this NEW SERIES | #TruthAboutWhoYouAre take a moment to check out this blog post

This is Day 16 of 48 of the #TruthAboutWhoYouAre series. Thank you so much for joining in on this journey with me. I hope you are inspired over this 7 week series.

If you are walking through a storm right now or know someone that is, take the time to read this post written by my dear friend Shayna Lane. She’s one of the many amazing friends I have gained since being a part of The OC Movement. She is passionate about telling stories through film, and plays a little jig here and there. Coffee, the ocean, and movies are a must.

I can quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one with my shield of faith (Ephesians 6:16)

I’m a huge Hunger Games fan, so I like to pretend I’m an expert on all things involving bows and arrows (in reality, I couldn’t shoot an arrow to save my life, but I promise in my mind I’m awesome at it!)  One thing I do know, though, is arrows can quite easily pierce vital organs and are strategically designed to take out their target.
The evil one is constantly trying to take us out to prevent us from fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives. And isn’t it just like him to target the vital areas that hurt the most? That unexpected bill comes in when you were already struggling just to put food on the table. That fight with your husband leaves you both shattered and on the edge of walking away from your marriage. The doctor diagnosis takes your breath away and instantly instills fear into your heart… Attacks will come, because God intricately designed each of us with great purpose and destiny and that terrifies the enemy.
But praise God that we can walk in confidence knowing those attacks wont take us out!
It’s by faith that we pick up our shield to protect us from the storms of life that come. Choosing faith isn't always easy, and I know I've given in to doubt, discouragement, and despair in the past. But our faith is not in our own strength and ability to change circumstances; rather, it's faith in God's faithfulness. It’s in knowing that the One who calls us as His own is greater than the evil one that is in the world. We pick up our shield of faith by standing on the promises of God’s Word, trusting in Him and claiming His truth regardless of what our situation might look like.
One of my favorite scriptures to hold on to is Romans 8:28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
What difficulties are you walking through today? What struggle feels like it might take you out? No matter what you’re facing, take heart and know that God loves you, is on your side and is greater than any arrows the enemy might shoot your way. Let’s pick up our shield of faith, believing that God is who he says he is, God can do what he says he can do, we are who God says we are, and we can do all things through Christ.
If God is for us, who can be against us?
Luke 1:45 - “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”
