#TruthAboutWhoYouAre

This is Day 24 of 48 of the #TruthAboutWhoYouAre series. Thank you so much for joining in on this journey with me. I hope you are inspired over this 7 week series.

A little bit about Miss Ashley Jackson | raised in the beautiful Pacific Northwest for over 20 years.  Parents, four siblings and their spouses, nephews and niece all still reside in Washington state.  Called to “The Promised Land” (Texas) April 2011.  Loving the sunshine, big hair, sparkles, Gateway Church and all things “southern.”  Greatest passion is STEWARDSHIP of every area of life – calling, resources, relationships, finances, legacy and home.  Excited to continue to learn to be a “Southern Belle” and anointed “Domestic Diva” in Dallas.

I am a doer of the Word and blessed in my actions - James 1:22 & 25

I am one of the “Jackson Five” – the 4th of 5 Jackson siblings.  I (we) have been affectionately nicknamed “Action Jackson” over the years.  That fun “Action Jackson” nickname has actually become part of my identity.  I now know I am called to inspire people to ACTION.  Love helping co-workers or friends walk away from a meeting or coffee date with “action items.”  These are not merely more tasks or more stuff for the sake of busyness, but helping people focus on what really needs to happen – “Strategic To-dos.”

I love this Who I Am in Christ statement today because it is the essence of my heart and walk with Jesus.  I am a doer of the Word and blessed in my actions.  We all know we need to READ, KNOW and DO the Word of God.  We are blessed in doing His written Word and when we obey His voice!

I have just one simple ACTION for you today (and recommend this EVERY DAY ☺).  ASK the Lord (2) questions:

  1. Jesus, where should I read in your Word today?  Listen.  He knows you better then anyone else.  That passage or verse you never thought of could  be exactly what your soul and spirit needs today.
  2. Lord, what would you like me to focus on today?  Get your marching orders for the day from the Lord.  Maybe you have a list and it is overwhelming…Where do I start?  How am I going to get all of this done?  He will show you.  Again, He knows you better then anyone else.  He will show you specifically today.

I can’t remember a day where my mom hasn’t asked the Lord these questions.  Grew up with her teaching me to hear God on my own – whether in my devotions or practically. “Ashley, what is the Lord telling you?”  I know you will be BLESSED as you quiet your heart as you ask, listen, know and do what He tells you to do!  His action for you today might simply be REST or WAIT or GO ☺  You won’t know until you ASK Him!

John 5:19 So Jesus explained, "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. (NLT)

- Ashley Jackson

Ashley included these additional versions of the today's scripture in her notes and I would like to encourage you to read them!

22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. (NIV)

22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his [x]natural face in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, [y]he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. 25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but [z]an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in [aa]what he does. (NASB)

22-24 Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don’t act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like.

25 But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action. (The Message)
